A methodology for hygrothermal modelling of imperfect masonry interfaces

چکیده

Hygrothermal models are important tools for assessing the risk of moisture-related decay mechanisms which can compromise structural integrity, loss architectural features and material. There several sources uncertainty when modelling masonry, related to material properties, boundary conditions, quality construction two-dimensional interactions between mortar unit. This paper examines at mortar-unit interface with imperfections such as hairline cracks or imperfect contact conditions. These will alter rate liquid transport into out wall impede masonry means that effective system be different then if only properties bulk were modelled. A detailed methodology this a fracture is presented including definition fracture. The considers combined effect both resistance across increase in parallel interface, generalisable various combinations materials, geometries apertures. Under result higher peak moisture contents after rain events lower long periods drying. demonstrated have definitive influence on conclusions from hygrothermal simulations.

Numerical Modelling of Timber Braced Frame Masonry Structures (Dhajji Dewari)

This paper presents numerical modeling technique for Dhajji-Dewari structures (timber-braced rubble stone masonry), and its application for the evaluation of in-plane force-deformation capacity of Dhajji wall panels of different configuration of bracings. Dhajji structures are mainly composed of vertical and horizontal timber posts and braced using diagonal bracings and horizontal studs. Wall o...

Numerical Implementation of Imperfect Interfaces

One approach to characterizing interfacial stiffness is to introduce imperfect interfaces that allow displacement discontinuities whose magnitudes depend on interfacial traction and on properties of the interface or interphase region. This work implemented such imperfect interfaces into both finite element analysis and the material point method. The finite element approach defined imperfect int...

Modelling an Imperfect Market

We propose a simple market model where agents trade different types of products with each other by using money, relying only on local information. Value fluctuations of single products, combined with the condition of maximum profit in transactions, readily lead to persistent fluctuations in the wealth of individual agents.

Modelling imperfect inspection over a finite horizon

This paper models imperfect inspection policies for a system with a finite operational time requirement. Two types of maintenance policy are considered: that in which an alarm (a positive inspection) is followed by a check of the validity of the alarm at additional cost, and if the system is good it continues in service and if failed it is retired; and that in which a positive inspection leads ...

investigating the feasibility of a proposed model for geometric design of deployable arch structures

deployable scissor type structures are composed of the so-called scissor-like elements (sles), which are connected to each other at an intermediate point through a pivotal connection and allow them to be folded into a compact bundle for storage or transport. several sles are connected to each other in order to form units with regular polygonal plan views. the sides and radii of the polygons are...
